When I first came to Rebalance, I was physically in pain, and emotionally drained from it. After seeing countless doctors, we came to a conclusion that at age 22 I have interstitial cystitis. This auto-immune disease does not have a cure, and causes pain like I have never experienced. The general symptoms are pelvic floor dysfunction, uti symptoms, and painful intercourse. I had just about given up hope that I would ever enter remission when I met Jackie. I am far from exaggerating when I say that she saved my life. Not only did she physically heal me, but she was my emotional therapist as well. I looked forward to hearing her postive encouragements each week during our sessions. Six months later I feel great. I have regained the stregnth in my back, my pelvic floor is no longer tight, and I am functioning like I never had a severe illness. I now see Jackie once a month for a touch up session, and of course to catch up! She not only is my physical therapist, but my friend. Rebalance Physical Therapy made such a difference in my life, and I thank God every day I found them; especially Jackie.

I first came to Hina in Spring of 2012 after the birth of my first child. I had been through several follow-up surgeries after the delivery in order to repair my 2nd degree tear. Months later I was still experiencing significant soreness and sharp pelvic pain from just standing. My OB suggested that I see Hina, but I was skeptical that physical therapy could help, having never heard of pelvic floor physical therapy. I went for an evaluation and immediately knew that I had made the right decision. Hina diagnosed the multi-layered problem and devised a treatment plan. After 3 months, when PT alone was not helping to improve the situation quickly enough, she referred me to a medical team as adjunctive treatment. I continued to see Hina for over a year and then went back to her when I had a flare up several months later. Hina not only treated me, but also helped me to navigate all of the doctors, was available to weigh in on decisions that needed to be made, and was an emotional ear through the whole process. She is incredibly empathic and helped me to weather some emotionally taxing and frustrating moments that came along the path towards recovery. After about a year of treatment I made significant progress that I did not think was possible and much of my functioning that was previously impaired was restored. When I got pregnant with my second in January 2014, my OB wanted to deliver me by C-section so that I would not risk aggravating any of the areas that we had worked so hard to treat. I was not thrilled with the idea of C-section and was determined to deliver vaginally. I called Hina for consultation and she laid out all of the realistic risks while also being very supportive and optimistic about the potential for a vaginal delivery. She never pushed me in any directions, instead empowering me to make an educated decision. She was extremely supportive and indicated that with more work I could prepare my body and for a vaginal delivery if I wanted to. The goal was to prevent tearing during delivery since another tear could reintroduce all of my issues. I saw Hina weekly as she helped me prepare a birth plan and answer questions that I and the doctors had. I delivered my daughter that September without any tearing at all, not needing any stitches, and not having to worry about my previous scar. While some of my pelvic issues have returned (which was a risk that I knew was possible), they are far milder than before and it was the choice that I felt empowered to make. Hina helped empower me emotionally and achieve the most optimal outcome physically. The depth of appreciation and gratitude that I have is hard to capture in words. But I can say that the emotional challenges that came with journey towards recovery were not easy. Hina was amazingly professionally, deeply empathic, and always available for consultation and guidance. I would strongly recommend her to anyone.

Therapy with Jackie at Rebalance was a life-saver for me. I had developed chronic pelvic floor issues accompanied by lower back issues, and unwinding it all was a complex process. It was a relief to finally speak with someone who understood what was going on and could help. Jackie has a natural gift of helping her patients, her calming, reassuring manner is as much a part of the healing process as the therapy itself. Those with chronic pain know that it can get depressing, and speaking with folks who get it and have the ability to help is such a relief. I have cried and laughed with Jackie, and I am better for her help. Thanks Jackie!!

I don’t know where to start….Hina has been an absolute lifesaver. I am a healthy young woman (31) who has no prior heath problems my whole life. After being completely stressed out with work and my social life I had symptoms that mimicked interstitial cystitis. I was in excruciating pain and I was urinating up to 30 times a day (my normal was 5). I went to 42 doctors….all of which told me something different (depending on the type of doctor they were). The doctors were not hearing me and all diagnosing me with something or wanting to do surgery on me, but not LISTENING to me. I am a huge advocate for myself and as much pain as I was in I went to all my appointments with a notepad and a stack of test results (hundreds of pages) asking “what exactly are we doing surgery on” Everything was negative and doctors could not find anything wrong with me. After much research (on my own) I finally landed Dr. Susan Kellogg in Bryn Mawr (AMAZING) she LISTENED to me and was willing to try different avenues and think outside the box….gosh why wouldn’t anyone else do that?!??! Doesn’t it seem odd that a completely healthy 31 year old with no other medical problems EVER has this happen and automatically everyone wants to drug me and do surgery on who knows what! Susan was extremely knowledgeable, talked me down and was available for a check in weekly on how I was doing on her “plan.” She is the one who referred me to the other greatest and sweetest woman i know HINA! Without these two who knows where I would be! I started therapy with Hina in the weeks to come and within a few weeks I walked in to the office and told her “I am not peeing my pants anymore”! It was a miracle! We worked on visceral work as well as breathing techniques. I went to other physical therapists and was examined by MANY doctors. They all told me i had no pelvic floor issues. HOWEVER, i learned i am not tight in my pelvic floor like most, but i do not know how to release or control my pelvic floor muscles. I do a weird tickle of my lower back in order for me to relax my muscles so I can urinate. That right there was a sign I needed PT and no other MD could pick that up. I saw Hina for about 2 months and I am a completely normal human again. I owe her my life. I can’t thank her enough. She is sweet, gentle, and funny! I know going through this time is the absolute worst and you think it will never get better, but believe me if you relax, meditate (yes I know just do it), and take baby steps it will get better. I eat whatever i want and live a normal life. I have a boyfriend and am sexually active with no problems. Though my hard times I did yoga which really helped me and Dr. Kellogg put me on 20mg of cymbalta as well. All in all everything together worked and I could not be happier. I am a new person and am stronger then ever! THANK YOU HINA!!!!!

From 2013 winter season onwards I was totally upset and depressed by the chronic lower back pain and weaknesses on legs. I met many doctors, took xray, MRI and emg of my lower back. Nothing found abnormal. I had undergone two coccyx manipulation by this time, suspecting its a coccyx dislocation. Nothing was really helpful and I even was having difficulty in walking. Finally Dr. Lake from premier orthopedics referred me to Rebalance physical therapy. Sessions by Jackie were a real life saver and it really helped me to move freely. She was motivational throughout the sessions and her approach to my pain was also commentable. She is such an amazing person at work. I am now recovered from the chronic pains. I am not sure how to express my sincere thanks to Jackie and entire Rebalance team. Thank you!!
