It took me over a decade to find the right medical support for my pelvic floor pain. Once I finally found my way to Jackie at Rebalance, it took less than a year to have my pain well-managed. The only down-side is that I don’t get to see Jackie anymore! Jackie is an expert in her field while also making her patients feel comfortable and at ease, which was absolutely crucial to making progress. I never imagined that having my pain under control would even be possible, but Jackie gave me small, manageable goals to work toward, always listing to what was and wasn’t working and adjusting as my treatment went. I will always be grateful to Jackie and would recommend her and Rebalance without hesitation.

n this pelvic floor dysfunction journey, being sent to see my physical therapist, Stephanie Muntzer, is the best thing that ever happened. I was one of the “lucky” ones. It only took me six months from the time I left work to be correctly diagnosed and sent, by my pelvic floor specialist, to see Stephanie. Of course I had read all the horror stories on the internet about how it never goes away. I was told various things, by several doctors, including that it was all in my head, that I’d be on estrogen and pain killers for the rest of my life and that I’d never run again. But, those doctors didn’t know me and they didn’t know that Stephanie works wonders. I have been seeing Stephanie for over a year at this point. I have gone from not driving at all for over a year (due to the pain) to being able to drive half of a recent trip to and from Chicago. I have gone from needing “internal work” at each therapy visit, to no longer needing it either at therapy or at home. I have gone from using estrogen therapy daily, to using none at all and I am now working my way off of the pain meds. I have gone from not being able to exercise and/or walk with out increasing my symptoms to being able to walk miles and miles, exercise on most cardiovascular machines and weight machines at my health club. And she has helped me introduce yoga and adequate stretching into my regular exercise routine. Most of all, though, Stephanie gives hope. She was the only person who told me my body could heal itself and that she would help me provide the environment and situation in which that could best happen, but that it would take a long time. Right up front she told me that this was going to take a couple of years, leaving me with no question in that area. She was the only healthcare provider who didn’t use the word “never.” I knew it would take work, and I have worked hard. But Stephanie has been there right along with me and continues to be as we are working through each step of my recovery from “pelvic floor dysfunction.” She challenges me with new exercises and new forms of exercise, but also with new thoughts. She is absolutely the best therapist and has been the best partner as I have been working through this pelvic floor journey. She is worth every penny–even if they don’t take insurance!! After all, who can put a dollar sign on your health, comfort and peace of mind.
