In 2009, I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis (pelvic floor pain & urgency). I was prescribed various medications and went through multiple rounds of Bladder Instillations to help with these symptoms. When those treatments were not making a significant difference – I was referred to Hina to start Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy. I started seeing Hina once a week in the beginning of 2010 – her methods of Physical Therapy helped me tremendously to improve my everyday life. Before Physical Therapy, I felt the need to go to the bathroom more than once every hour and was unable to exercise for more than 20 minutes without experiencing pain and urgency. After only a few months of PT, I was starting to see results. Two years later, this past Spring I was able to run my first ever Half Marathon, without stopping, something that I never thought I was going to be able to do. Being able to go through the day without experiencing pain and needing to know where a bathroom is at all times is a huge relief. Since moving out of state, I continue my at-home exercises and have been able to maintain my progress on my own, while only taking a fraction of the medication that I started out with. I highly recommend Hina and this method of treatment to anyone who is suffering from Interstitial Cystitis, Bladder Urgency or Pelvic Floor pain.

For years, doctors who examined me told me that I was perfectly “normal” and to “use more lube” (which did not, of course, help anything). Finally I met an ob/gyn who was knowledgeable enough to at least send me to a specialist, who diagnosed me with vestibulodynia. This was certainly a breakthrough, but after a year of trying different creams with no success, the hopelessness crept back. The doctor I was seeing recommended, as last resorts, trigger point injections (traumatic) and muscle relaxant suppositories (I’m sorry, what do you want me to put up there?!), and then, of course, surgery. That was when I simply stopped treatment altogether, because none of those options were feasible or made any sense to me. At no point was physical therapy ever mentioned to me by professionals, and only after talking to a friend who happened to work with a pelvic floor physical therapist did I even know such a thing existed. Thankfully, that’s how I got to Hina. And the kicker? Within just a few visits with Hina I experienced improvement in my condition that I never thought possible. I can’t recommend Hina highly enough; she is simply a master at what she does. Her approach is holistic, compassionate, and effective. She always made me feel so comfortable that I enjoyed our sessions, even though the work being done can be quite intense. It is so incredibly important that all women with my condition try physical therapy; there is absolutely no reason not to. It’s hard to describe how my quality of life improved, because the work we did improved things that I didn’t correlate with my condition–like breathing better, or feeling a deeper sense of calm. Living with a condition like this is so complicated and so difficult, and getting the right treatment unfortunately takes a level of patience and persistence that is hard to muster when the outlook is bleak and the problem isn’t life or death–but I’m here to say it’s completely worth it. Working with Hina changed my outlook on life, in the sense that I firmly believe now that help exists for any problem I may come across, it just sometimes takes a while to find it. Go see Hina. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain.

Chronic Prostatitis/Pelvic Pain Syndrome Last Fall, Shortly after turning 31, I began to notice significant urinary symptoms and a nagging pain throughout my pelvic region. Here I was, a very athletic, active, newly married, expecting father, with so many pelvic symptoms I thought the worst. And so, after four urologists, two family practitioners, various tests including blood/urine samples and a pelvic mri, i was told that i was completely healthy and that the “pain was in my head.” It was here, where my long journey to recovery needed to begin. Luckily, the last urologist i saw suggested I may have a muscular/skeletal issue and that i should be evaluated by a physical therapist, particularly a pelvic floor specialist. Within three days after speaking with Hina, she managed to schedule me in for an evaluation. All I can say is WOW. After about ten sessions of manual therapy with Hina and her colleague Elayne, I was feeling much better and many of my symptoms began to subsibe and/or decrease significantly. It has now been almost three months since i have recieved treatment and all is continuing to go well. However, I know that if I needed treatment, Hina and her fantastic staff would not hesitate to squeeze me in. They gave me my life back! I only wish I could have contactacted them sooner and saved myself many months of pain, grief, and frustration. I would highly recommend Rebalance Physical Therapy to anyone having pelvic issues. I was diagnosed with Pelvic floor dysfunction along with lower back pain earlier this year. I was recommended to Hina by one of my physicians. She is amazing! I was a little skeptical at first about going to a physical therapist for this problem, but thank God I did! She made an awkward appointment very comfortable and relaxing. She even gave me some exercises to try at home. After a few appointments, I was starting to feel a significant difference! I would recommend Hina to anyone with similar pelvic floor issues. She’s knowledgable & professional…you can’t go wrong!

I’ve been seeing Hina for over 2 years now and she’s an outstanding PT for pelvic floor conditions. While most men view these conditions as mainly affecting women, the truth is there are too many of us who fail to seek the proper treatment. The loss is theirs. Through Hina’s treatment, she has significantly improved my muscle tone and reduced my symptoms with a program that includes variety of stretches and exercises which were measurable through legitimate testing and a personal sense of “feeling better”. If you are in the Philly area, I’d highly recommend you make an appt to see Hina if you are experiencing pelvic pain. She is equally experienced in treating both men and women and really does an outstanding job of creating a custom therapy plan for each patient she treats.
