Men with penile, testicular and scrotal pain are often diagnosed with other conditions. Usually the pain is accompanied by a diagnosis such as:
The pelvic floor muscles stretches from the pubic bone to the tailbone. If these muscles become too tight, it can cause a variety of symptoms, including testicular, penile and/or scrotal pain.
Pelvic floor tension can be caused by anything. Causes include: past sports injuries, postural habits, stress, anxiety or even holding your abdominals too tight. You might not even know that there is tension in your pelvic floor – it could have been building for a long time and it’s now just showing up as testicular, penile or scrotal pain.
Over time, the tension in the pelvic floor causes the muscles to become taught and compress around the blood vessels and nerves in that area. This restricts the blood flow and create symptoms such as pain, burning or tightening in the testicular area.
Pelvic floor tension can also cause myofascial or fascial restrictions in that area, which can trigger testicular, penile and scrotal pain. It can also be caused by misalignment, either in the pelvis or another part of the body.
