If it’s Not a UTI, it Might Be Your Pelvic Floor

Posted November 8, 2017| by katherine SHARE

UTI Symptoms Could Be Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

Hey guys, it’s Hina from Rebalance! Today I want to talk to all of you that have something that feels like a urinary tract infection (UTI), but it’s not.

If you’re having symptoms such as urinary frequency, burning pain or bladder pain and you’ve had yourself tested for a UTI but you’re still having symptoms, and no one’s giving you answers, it could be coming from your pelvic floor muscles.

Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles that sit in your pelvis that connect from your tailbone to your pubic bone. They sit like a hammock in your pelvis and they go through your vaginal canal, rectal canal and your urethra. If there’s issues in your pelvic floor, it can potentially cause issues around your urethra and bladder, giving you symptoms that feel like a UTI, but are actually tight muscles (see: exercise to release your pelvic floor muscles).

If you suspect this might be going on, what do you do?

Find a pelvic floor therapist near your area that really understand the pelvic floor and how to treat it. You need an internal examination to check to see if the pelvic floor muscles are involved.

If you’re in the Philadelphia area, give us a call at 267-282-1301 to schedule a complimentary phone consultation. If you’re not in the area but are seeking a recommendation, contact us and we can help you find a professional in your area.
